Hello

My name is Emily Kent & I founded the Peaceful Parenting Project back in 2021.

 

I would love to get to know you, but first it might be helpful to give you a little information about me... 

My Story

I've always loved children & went to University straight from school, with the initial intention of becoming a Primary School teacher. I achieved a BA Hons degree in Early Childhood Studies, with my entire course focused not just on child development, but also the intricacies of providing support to both children & their families.

 

After completing the same, I gained some additional qualifications & life took a slightly different turn for me! I ended up following my main passion in life, into teaching of a different kind. I took my initial RYT 200 in 2014 & have been teaching Yoga full-time ever since. Over the past nearly 10 years, I have achieved numerous additional qualifications & completed various courses in Mindfulness, Meditation, Pre & Post-Natal Yoga, Yoga Therapy, Breathwork & many more things besides.

Although my entire career had already been centred around helping people of all ages stay healthy, calm, relaxed & well-rested, the main thing you really need to know about me, is that I'm a mum... Of a child that NEVER SLEPT!! So please trust that I know first hand how utterly debilitating sleep deprivation can be. 

After my daughter was born in 2020, I found the lack of sleep by far the toughest thing to cope with. After six months of torturous nights, my husband & I knew we needed to make some proper changes, but found the world of infant sleep an absolute minefield. All advice seemed to be incredibly contradictory & I understood immediately why so many parents are put off even trying to make any sleep-based changes. I knew we HAD to improve our sleep situation though, so threw myself into further research.

 

I ultimately was absolutely shocked at how, with a little guidance, we could turn things around so quickly. As soon as we committed ourselves to making some positive changes, our lives were literally transformed! Within one week I went from never being able to put my daughter down, to her taking lengthy naps in her cot. We went from hourly wakes overnight, to regular 7pm-7am sleeps. Most importantly, we went from having a generally grouchy, grumpy baby to the happiest, smiliest brightest child. Improving our sleep, literally changed our lives & my mind was truly blown! I became desperate to help others see the same results.

I looked into courses, enrolled as soon as I could & became a qualified Infant Sleep Practitioner the following year. It has become my passion ever since, to help parents improve their whole family's sleep, with an equal focus on their own wellbeing alongside that of their children.
